Each release is composed of four main sections: EP ODP features and functionalities, Data models, Data, and Data services. Release July 2025 (Minor) – ELI-EP 3.2.0 updates, New data model, New application profile (SHACL-EP), New APIs

Release 1.1 (May 2023) - Improvements and automation

Release 1.0 (January 2023) - Official launch

EP ODP
  • This release marks the official launch of EP ODP (European Parliament Open Data Portal), the portal that provides access to open data from the European Parliament.
Data models
  • This release includes the publication of the main data models (one ontology and two application profiles) that describe European Parliament Data. The current release includes:
    • epvoc 1.0: epvoc ontology defines specific properties and classes used in the application profiles managed by the European Parliament (ORG-EP, ELI-EP, DCAT-EP).
    • eli-ep 1.0: eli-ep is an application profile based on the ELI / ELI-DL Ontology, specifically designed to describe the documents and the activities of the European Parliament.
    • org-ep 1.0: org-ep is an application profile of the W3C Organization Ontology, specifically designed to describe the organisational components of the European Parliament (MEPs, Parliamentary Groups, Committees, etc.).
    • dcat-ep 0.3: dcat-ep is an RDF vocabulary designed to facilitate interoperability between data catalogues published on the web. It is based on the W3C data schema.
Data
  • The first datasets were added to the EP ODP platform. This release includes the following datasets:
    • meps: this dataset contains information about each of the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), including the country they represent, their political group and their national political party.
    • corporate-bodies: this dataset contains the list of corporate bodies of the European Parliament, i.e. political groups, committees, delegations, etc.
    • adopted-texts: This dataset contains the list of texts adopted by the European Parliament, i.e. legislative and non-legislative resolutions, legislative acts, opinions, declarations, decisions, recommendations, etc.
    • plenary-documents: This dataset contains the list of texts tabled for the plenary of the European Parliament, i.e. the reports, motions for resolutions, amendments, etc. proposed for formal discussion or consideration in the plenary of the European Parliament.
    • plenary-session-documents: This dataset contains the list of documents related to the plenary activities of the European Parliament, i.e. agendas, minutes and verbatim reports of proceedings (debates).
    • parliamentary-questions: This dataset contains the list of parliamentary questions from Members of the European Parliament and their answers, i.e. oral questions, written questions and interpellations, and their answers and annexes to answers.
    • meetings: This dataset contains the list of meeting events of the European Parliament. It also provides links to the related documents: agendas, minutes and verbatim reports of proceedings (debates).

  • Launch of API interface in the Developer Corner section of the EP ODP giving access to data published on the portal.
  • DCAT dataset description of datasets and data dumps also available through API.
  • Definition of persistent URIs and content negotiation rules.
